Be responsible for your own orgasms

There is a scene in the sitcom Big Bang Theory, where Penny is driving with Leonard’s Mum (Beverly Hofstadter) and she is asking Penny about her sex life. It is very funny and awkward, but Beverly has some advice to live by as well. She tells Penny to be responsible for her own orgasms.

This stuck with me, it is great life advice. Having an orgasm can fix so many things. It is a fantastic way to destress, to practice self care, get to know yourself better, to check out of reality, to make you feel good, to fix a crap day - the list is endless.

My advise is not to only rely on a sexual partner to give you an orgasm. You get to decide how many and how frequently you orgasm. Having solo sex is also a great way to experiment with the different ways you enjoy orgasming, which you can then ask for with your sexual partners.

The ability to orgasm is another way the body shows us just how amazing it is. Having an orgasm can be a great reset button especially when life has got us down and we’re feeling low. It can be all we need to bring us back on top (even if it’s only temporary).
